Poverty Alleviation Program
Introduction
HANDS Poverty Alleviation Program (PAP) based on integrated community development approach. The program primarily focused on women population of the community but later it accommodated male community as well to expand income generation opportunities.
Micro finance and Skill Development are amongst the two key strategies being promoted by Poverty Alleviation Program of HANDS to empower community especially women. HANDS has established HANDS Technical Training Centers (HTTC) at Regional offices located Karachi Rural and Matiari, where women come from different communities to get skill enhancement training on entrepreneur.
After training they establish Village based Entrepreneur Center with the collaboration of Community Organizations (men & Women) and replicate training for other community women. These trainings enable them to become financially self-reliant, skillful, socially secure and to reduce vulnerability of their families.
Under Social Mobilization for Micro Financing Project (SMF), HANDS in collaboration with Khushhali Bank has mobilized communities for forming of equitable social capital through community development, capacity building of such communities and provision of small infrastructure projects.

Type of Products
HANDS Poverty Alleviation Program offers micro credit for the following products:
  1. Enterprises & Commercial Loans
  2. Agricultural Loans
  3. Livestock Loans
  4. Micro credit to CMW/CHA
Program Strategy
  1. Identification of the community
  2. Situation analysis of communities and individuals for need assessment
  3. Facilitation in establishing/strengthening of saving system among COs members
  4. Strengthening and capacity building of COs
  5. Ensure provision of Micro credit
  6. Provision of skills enhancement training program
  7. Hand over the program to COs.
