Promotion Program |
 |
| Introduction |
| To provide basic health services, primary education, income generation
opportunities and development of institutions to empower the
underprivileged communities. HANDS started its health promotion program in 1979, in the rural area of Gadap & Bin Qasim Towns (former Malir) to provide primary health care services. The health indicators like IMR, MMR and health awareness in communities were very poor at that time. HANDS gradually expanded its health care services. HANDS under changed strategy trained local females as Community Midwives and males as Community Health Attendants, who provide services to the community at their doorsteps under the supervision of HANDS and respective local community organizations.
