Resource Mobilization Program
Introduction
 
HANDS established Resource Mobilization Unit in 2002 to expedite its efforts to raise funds for rural community development. The unit devised ways and means to reach to the donors (national & international) and to prepare them to pool funds for improving the living conditions of rural community. It brought out following publications to highlight its activities, achievements and grievances of the community.

 Objectives 

  • To increase the resources for funding.
  • To create “free resources”, to reduce dependency on one source of funding and reduce the impact of donor withdrawal.
  • To raise funds for establishment of HANDS Institute of Community Development.
Achievements

1. Organized “Donors meeting” to raise funds for HANDS ICD.

2.    Held 61 meetings with different delegates to raise funds.

3.    Developed 13 project proposals and 19 Expression of Interest and concept papers.

4.     3 EOI were later developed as proposals on invitation of donors and two of them    approved.

  4. Universal Primary Education at district Thatta (National Commission for Human Development).
  5. Training for Community Health Workers in CDD (UNICEF).
  6. To improve sustainable RH & ARH services by income generation schemes for adolescents, Karachi rural (World Population Foundation (WPF) - Extension).
  7. Family Planning Clinical Training for Private Sector Providers, Districts Karachi, (Urban & Rural), Hyderabad, Thatta & Sanghar (KSM/The Future Groups International/DFID)
  1. GDA – Safe drinking water project, BQT & Gadap Town, District Karachi (John Hopkins University, USA).
