Gender & Development Program

Introduction 

 
HANDS Gender and Development program addresses the needs of rural community and has long been articulating as cross cutting theme of organization and its programs, based on integrated development approach to create an enabling environment to flourish the skills of women and men and ensure its applicability in development work.
 
Objectives
  • To form and strengthen the community organizations.
  • To mobilize and motivate communities and to promote equity and equality based gender justice in intervention areas of HANDS.
  • To enhance skills of COs through training, and establishing entrepreneur center.
  • To advocate social issues with all stakeholders and to enhance their capacity to deal with the issues.
  • To develop public & private partnership for good governance.
  • To facilitate community organization in the process of development.
  • To ensure women’s autonomy, access to resources and to empower them in decision making.

 Progress & Achievements 2003 - 2004
  • Established & strengthened 1920 COs/ groups with 17727 members.
  • Developed Gender code of conduct 
  • Developed Gender policy. 
  • Updated CBP Manual. 
  • Held 3820 meetings with all stakeholders.
  • Conducted two seminars on violence against women, more than 600 participants attended. 
  • Organized a workshop on gender development for internal staff.
  • Organized a two-day workshop on facilitation and presentation skills for NGOs. 
  • Arranged national level exposure visit of GAD team. 
  • Organized world population day.
  • Organized rally on peace.
  • Arranged two exposure visits for members of WOs.
  • Conducted 26 trainings of CBP for men and women COs.
  • Organized women day at Hyderabad.
  • Established entrepreneur training center at Hala.
